Chaplaincy Team
Meet our Chaplaincy Team
"We are the Chaplaincy Team! Our aim is to support the school's mission, values and foster a faith-based learning community, by encouraging pupils to live out their faith daily. We enhance the spiritual life of the school through liturgy and prayer, and support all children at St Mary Magdalen's in developing and deepening their faith. Additionally, we assist with assemblies, prayer groups, and engaging in outreach and charity work to promote social justice and fundraising. Collaborating with the RE Leader and Parish Team, we strengthen community ties. As a team we have developed and regularly review an action plan to reflect on activities and events."
Our Chaplaincy Team in Action - Leading Prayer
To celebrate Spirited Week our Chaplaincy Team recorded and shared with the whole school a meditation video called, 'Taking Time with God'. Over the week, each class went into our school Chapel and participated in prayerful mediation directed by the team. It provided the children with another way to spend time with God outside of assemblies, pupil led Celebration of the Word and Acts of Worship.
The children at St Mary Magdalen's enjoyed the moments of stillness, calmness and reflection this video provided.
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Our Chaplaincy Team in Action - Outreach Work
Our annual collection for Food Bank Aid was a tremendous success, thanks to the leadership of our wonderful Chaplaincy Team! To raise awareness, the team led a whole school assembly, explaining why Catholics are called to help those in need, based on the Catholic Social Teaching of 'Option for the Poor,' and Pope Francis's encyclical Fratelli Tutti, which emphasizes solidarity and fraternity.
We were amazed by the generous donations of food and toiletries from our school community. A BIG thank you to you all. These contributions will provide essential supplies to those most in need, alleviating the worry of where the next meal will come from. This effort truly exemplifies putting Jesus’ teachings into action.
